Raina says she made sure to vote for After School's Kaeun on 'Produce 48'

On the August 29th installment of SBS Love FM's 'Kim Chang Ryul's Old School', DJ Kim Chang Ryul asked Raina if she's been keeping her eye on her former fellow After School member Kaeun, and she responded, "Of course. After School maknae Kaeun was my 'one pick' since the first episode of 'Produce 48'."

Raina continued, "I wasn't worried when Kaeun first made the decision to appear on the show. That's how much I trust in her ability." Kim Chang Ryul added, "Watching the show, it seems like Kaeun has great leadership skills," and Raina responded, "It's true. She was the leader among the trainees as well, and she has a strong sense of responsibility. She's someone who's not lacking in talent, tenacity, or anything else."

Kaeun recently came in at 5th place on 'Produce 48'.

After School’s Raina Says She Has Complete Confidence In Lee Ga Eun For “Produce 48”

Though the group hasn’t promoted in quite some time, the After School bond is still strong. August 29, Raina appeared on the SBS LoveFM radio show “Kim Chang Yeol’s Old School” and showed her support for Lee Ga Eun, who is currently fighting for a top spot on “Produce 48.”

When asked if she’s been voting for Lee Ga Eun, she said, “Of course. Our group maknae (youngest member) Ga Eun has been my top pick since day one of ‘Produce 48,’” and revealed that even when Lee Ga Eun first made her decision to appear on the show, she wasn’t nervous. “That’s how much I believe in her,” said Raina.

Raina added, “Even among trainees, [Lee Ga Eun] used to assume the role of the leader, so her sense of responsibility is strong. She has everything, from talent to personality.”

After a long hiatus, Raina returned as a singer-songwriter. She said, “During my time off, I had so many thoughts. I felt like I was losing confidence, and that made me sad. I had to tell myself every day. ‘It’s okay, everything’s okay.’”

“I had been so busy and then I suddenly had no work at all. Emotionally, it was hard going from one extreme to the other, but during that time, I met a lot of friends, exercised a lot, and studied music a lot.” Raina’s new song “It’s Okay,” which dropped on August 27, was born out of her uncertainties during her hiatus. She said, “It’s not because I’m a celebrity. Many people will be able to relate to the emotions in the song.”

Lee Ga Eun’s mother penned a heartwarming message for her daughter ahead of the final episode of Mnet’s “Produce 48.”

She wrote, “My daughter, Ga Eun! You were always a kid who would never lean on anyone and be brave as you faced things alone when things got tough. Many years ago, when you made your first debut as a singer, something you’d wanted so desperately, you would always smile and reassure me even when you were struggling, and it hurt my heart to see you like that.

“Now, I hope you are able to live out the dreams you’ve wanted so badly through this show. When you first told me you’d be appearing on the show, I was filled with so much fear and so many concerns, but seeing you dance, sing, and smile happily on stage has made me very happy as well.

“Even if you don’t make it, even if there are people who dislike you for no real reason, you will always be my daughter who I am so proud of, and you will always be the most precious person in my life that I love. So, like always, just be yourself and conclude everything with that brave attitude of yours. I’ll be waiting for you at home with your favorite, a pot of kimchi stew that has lots of meat in it. Lee Ga Eun first made her debut as a member of After School in 2012 and appeared as a trainee of Pledis Entertainment on “Produce 48” this year. The top 12 members who will make up the debut project group will be announced during the live finale on August 31 at 8 p.m. KST.

Former After School member Jung Ah also posted her thoughts on After School member/Pledis Entertainment trainee Kaeun's results on 'Produce 48'.

On September 1, a day after the final episode of 'Produce 48', Jung Ah wrote on her Instagram, "Our Kaeun, you went through a lot. I believe that even better opportunities will definitely come to you. Still, I'm upset and my heart aches."

Kaeun and Jung Ah previously promoted together in After School in 2012. Meanwhile, Kaeun's final ranking on Mnet's 'Produce 48' ended up at 14th place, bumping her outside the debut cutline.
