I’ve been monitoring the Gaon charts for some time now and I have to say that downloads for music, particularly this year have been really bad and how groups and individuals are charting are all over the place and its perplexing to me as to why.

Even SNSD which are supposed to be Korea’s darlings “Catch me if you can” didn’t do very well at all; while they are #86 in the Digital Charts they are no longer in the Digital Download charts only getting 13,843 for the week 26/04/15 - 02/05/15.

While they didn’t promote this single in Korea it’s still surprising and worrying that such a group can do so poorly and here are the numbers…

Digital Downloads and Chart positions.

05/04/15 - 11/04/15 #19  48,245
12/04/15 - 18/04/15 #12  55,826
19/04/15 - 25/04/15 #50  21,087

Even at a chart position of 12 the downloads are really small compared to a few years ago because let’s not forget even Hello Venus at its best which only charted in the mid-thirties still managed to get 70,000 downloads and top twenty positions back then had downloads in the 100,000’s!

Also looking at the charts there are songs no longer being promoted still hanging around half a year after release while new releases that chart well initially quickly loose positions; even A Midsummer Night’s Sweetness is back in the Charts at #100 with 13,946 downloads and up 9 positions which means even it must have been hanging around just outside of the top 100.

Unless you chart in the top 5 nowadays it seems you can’t break the 100,000 download mark which means that in a period over the last three years you have to chart 4 times higher to get the same result.

Mnet Global and Korea are now based on the same design with only language and host address are different.

Voting by tools must be changed. It depends on how you implement them. It can be done in less than one hour. I just modified mine.

A Midsummer Night’s Sweetness is up 11 places to #92 in the Digital Charts for the period 03/05/15 - 09/09/15 and up 9 places to #91 in the Digital download chart with 13,913 downloads.

@intrepid good to see AMNS is still getting attention thanks for the chart updates.

A Midsummer Night’s Sweetness is up 3 places to #89 in the Digital Charts for the period 10/05/15 - 15/05/15 but down 3 places to #94 in the Digital download chart with 14,480 downloads which despite being a decrease is actually up from last week’s sales.

Just to add something I thought was interesting is that San E is in a JTBC show called 학교 다녀오겠습니다 (Off to school”?”) and in episode 44 he was on the school PA system and they played AMNS and he sung over his part but when Raina’s parts came on all the students sang along word for word which was great.

In the same vein I thought it interesting/telling that on the 17 television programme the Yooara X 17 version was played but the boys always stopped the music just before Yooara’s part would have started, it could be for the showcase they were planning that part wasn’t needed to be played but they were really quick to cut it out I thought.

A Midsummer Night’s Sweetness is down 8 places to #97 in the Digital Charts for the period 17/05/15 - 23/05/15 but up 4 places to #91 in the Digital download chart with 14,971 downloads which marks three consecutive increases in sales, not bad for a song that finished promoting over half a year ago.

@PlayboyzAdam Randomly appearing to say thank you for the Playgirlz Voter. After spending every minute today when I am not in class creating emails for twitter accounts and Mwave accounts I now have a flashback Friday. A flashback Friday to how much easier it makes everything because this is time consuming and tedious.

@intrepid, thanks for the AMNS updates but can you posted them at https://afterschooldaze.forumotion.com/t375-discussionofficial-a-midsummer-night-s-sweetness-discussion-thread that way it'll be easier to find them when fans want to make references to them.

Mbc+ seems to have changed their Show Champion page layout. So I decided to try and make an account to see if it was fixed. Sadly I can't complete the registration. But the page might still be updated as now they demand and e-mail code before you fill in your personal information and if that is a new step maybe they have also fixed the problem.

On the other hand if they have fixed it I guess it will be pretty impossible for the voter to create emails, read the code and type it in to register on mbc+ so whatever mindless dream that the site would actually work for me today turned out to be a faliure. Unless I can figure out what I did wrong and even then it might not work. :/

Sure thing! Once you do find the time to test it out (because I can't figure out what I am doing wrong) I would be very happy if you let me know if it works. I did prepare like 16 email accounts for Seveenteen, not all of them are functional and real since I just used them for Mwave accounts creation but I could make them become real emails and use them for Show Champion voting once AS returns.
