First of all, tell us your impressions of the shh release event held at Sunshine City on January 31st
Eyoung : A lot of people turned up more than I expected. There were all kinds of people that got interested with us and that became a motivation to us.
JungAh : I didn’t get to participate in that event due to poor health. I’m really sorry that I wasn’t able to show up. I’ve received many messages from the fans via sns but I wasn’t able to reply to them as well.

Raina took over due to JungAh’s absence from the event.

Raina :Unnie was in bad shape so that was the least I can do. I have more lines to handle than usual but this is really part of the responsibility right? (shy smile)

So, the 2nd full length album ” DRESS TO KILL” will be released on march 19th. How was the completion of it?
Juyeon : Ms Independent is the track for Maruko CM in which I appeared with. There was no ballad included in the album this time as well. It was enriched with various dance genre music which you will enjoyed. Of course not forgetting “Heaven” and “shh”

The album release is also Juyeon’s birthday.
Juyeon : I’m getting a special feeling about this (laughs) I wanna have a party with the members. Our schedule on the day is still unknown, but If I can successfully meet everyone, I wanted to party with them.

What does the title ‘DRESS TO KILL ’ means?
Nana : Attracting the attention of the opposite sex
You mean a battle with the clothes?
Nana : Yes, dance music genre songs have been recorded this time and just like Dance to Kill, fans will continue to experience the strong and sexy AfterSchool.

Femininity is expresses through the style. - tell me something about the CD Jacket.
Eyoung : For Shh, the costume is mannish but this time, it was a one piece dress each with a different patterns. It gives me feminine, natural and stylish feel.
JungAh : The Jacket Design is something like an old styling.

Ok then, please recommend a song from the album
Juyeon : Mine is definitely the song used in the Maruko CM - Miss Independent. I think it’s worth to listen as it portrays the image of strong women. When I first indulge with a CM in japan, it was the kind of a special tie-up song that leaves behind good memories.
JungAh : I like dress to kill. It’s a kind of a whispering song but I sounded sexy when I whisper during the recording. So I had to record it in different versions and it was a little embarrassing (laughs)

Eyoung : Same here, I also like Dress to Kill. During the recording, I was complimented for the best, and I’m feeling really good about it (laughs)
In what way did you get complimented for?
Eyoung : In many ways, but mainly for my whispering voice (laughs).
Raina : I like Yes no Yes. At first I have to whisper in English but I really like the melody. It suits my preference.
Nana : I’m going for Lady Luck. ( LOL, she noticed she mistakenly pronounced the song title and mentioned their previous single back in 2013 ) It’s Lucky Girl ( mu-mo Bonus track). For me it’s the cutest song from the album. You will feel really happy just by listening to it.

There will be an extra bonus track from the normal version of the album which is Flashback ( Japanese version ). Previously a hit in Korea.
Raina : The recording was done easily since the lyrics of the Japanese and Korean were also very similar.
JungAh : Moments after Flashback was released , I heard many that says it was a really good song back in Korea. But the timing of the release seems a little bad (laughs)

Raina : Short pants. Because my legs are beautiful.
JungAh : She had the confidence
Raina : Just the leg though (shy smile)
Juyeon : I think (laughs) I look best in whatever I wear.

JungAh : I wore the white mini dress during the Asia model awards 2013 and I look really beautiful and feminine during the photo shoots
Eyoung : For me feminine coat fashion wear. I think I look really good in it (shy smile)
Nana : Red long dress to show my passion (laughs)

Nana : I had no idea foreign fans even knows me, deeply surprised but at the same time I was thankful and happy.

Juyeon : Before this I was an ulzzang but now I’m gonna handover this title to the younger Nana.
JungAh : Juyeon delivered her award to Nana

By the way, Orange Caramel’s Korean comeback has been announced by early march.
Raina : It has been a while ( after a year and 4 months gap) from the last comeback so I’m a little worried but then again I’m excited and can’t wait to get the activities started. Orange Caramel will be back with more cuteness, please anticipate.

Win People’s Attention By Sexy Dance

– First, tell us your impression of “Shh” release event in Sunshine City last January, which was a big success!
E-Young Many people came more than our expectation. We realize that they’re concerned about AS, it really becomes a big motivation to us.

– Jungah couldn’t attend because of poor health condition
Jungah Though I’ve already promised to come, I got sick and ended up couldn’t participate, I’m really sorry for this. Even now it’s still bugging my mind. Fans sent me various message through SNS but because I was so sick I couldn’t reply, I’m regretting that.

– And Raina stepped up to fill the hole left by leader’s absence
Raina Yes, Jungah unnie was absent because of bad health condition so somehow we had to fill her part. I tried my best to do it.

– You were talking a lot more than usual, was that because you felt responsible?
Raina (shy laugh) Yes.

– Then, please tell us about your second album ‘Dress to kill’. What kind of album would it be?
Jooyeon First we have ‘Ms. Independent’, a tie up song with Maruko CM which I was appeared on. There won’t be ballad song in this album, but it’s still filled with fun songs and various dance music anyone could enjoy, I think. Of course “Heaven” and “Shh” are also featured in this album.

– This album will be relased on Jooyeon’s birthday, right?
Jooyeon I feel like it’s something special (laugh) I usually had birthday party with other members before… This year we still don’t know our schedule yet, but I want to meet and have party with all fans.

– What’s the meaning behind title ‘Dress to kill’?
Nana It means dress up to gain attention from the opposite gender.

– Like ‘a girl’s best clothes’?
Nana Yeah. This time we challanged ourselves with dance songs from various genre. “Dress to kill” also originally means sexy and powerful AS determined to catch fan’s sight with various dance songs.

– Tell us the point of the CD’s jacket
E-Young We sported manly clothes on “Shh”, but this time we’re showing both feminine yet neutral and stylish feel simultaneously with different patterned one piece and skirt.

Jungah The jacket design looks classic, right?

– Then please tell us your favourite or recommended tracks!
Jooyeon It’s definitely MARUKO CM’s theme song, “Ms. Independent”, for me. You’ll understand if you listen, the lyrics is speaking about confident woman. It’s tied up with my first CM in Japan, so this song feels special and full of memories for me.
Jungah I love “Dress to kill”. The lyrics “Dress to kill~” is sung in whispering voice, while recording this song I tried to whisper sexily. We recorded several version of it, it’s a bit embarassing (laugh)
E-Young It’s “Dress to kill” for me too.I got praised as the best when recording this song. It’s because I was in very good mood (laugh)
– In which part did you get praised?
E-Young There’s several part, especially my whisper voice (shy laugh)
Raina “Yes No Yes”. In the beginning of the song there’s whisper voice in english, it sounds really fresh. I also love melody on the climax of this song, it’s pleasant.
Nana It’s “Lady Luck” (laugh hard when realized she mistook the song title with their 4th single) Ah I was wrong, I mean “Lucky Girl”(bonus track of mu-mo special edition. It’s the cutest out of all songs in the album, the lyrics are lovely, you’ll be so happy to listen this song.

– As a bonus for normal edition you recorded Japanese version of Flashback which was a hit back then in Korea
Raina We were able to finished recording so easily, because we’re already familiar with the melody, both Korean and Japanese lyrics also has same feels.
Jungah There’s many people said while listening to Flashback, from the beginning to the end it’s a good song *I’m not sure about this part sorry* But I guess timing to release that song (back in Korea) was a little not right.

Everything will suit us because we are beautiful

– In relation to the album title “Dress to kill”, please tell us what is the best clothes for each of you?
Raina Short pants. Because my legs are beautiful.

Jungah You’re really confident.
Raina Only my legs are beautiful (shy laugh)
Jooyeon (laugh) I think whatever I’m wearing it will look good on me.
– As expected from ulzzang
Jungah Recently I got to wear a white mini dress on Asia Model Festival Awards, pictures of me from that event was taken beautifully. It’s a girly white dress.
E-Young Feminine coat fashion for me. Because I think it looks beautiful and suitable for me (shy laugh)
Nana Red long dress, because I want to show my passionate side (laugh)

We Will Have Lots of Events So Please Come

– Nana was selected as #2 “100 Most Beautiful Face on The World” in famous US movie site, TC Candler
Nana It’s unexpected that people from overseas know about me, I’m surprised but I felt honored and happy about this.

– How is ulzzang Jooyeon’s impression on Nana?
Jooyeon (laugh) I used to be an ulzzang, now I want young Nana to succeed me.
Jungah It’s a prize Nana got inherited from Jooyeon (everyone laugh out)

– By the way it’s been announced that OC will have Korean comeback in early March
Raina It’s been a while since our last comeback (a year and four months) so we’re a bit anxious yet also excited, we want to do more activities soon. It will sound OC-ish and hyperly cute, so please anticipate our new song.

Between the two translations there are differences in what the members said and how things occurred e.g. ASdaisuki's translation says that Raina said "I have more lines to handle than usual but this is really part of the responsibility right?" while the ASDaze translation says that Raina was asked "You were talking a lot more than usual, was that because you felt responsible?" which Raina replied "Yes" to. If you can understand Japanese can you please let me know which part of what translation is correct?

I read the Japanese and I'd say that Zai's translation is correct

"You were talking a lot more than usual, was that because you felt responsible?" which Raina replied "Yes" to.

This was the original Japanese line:
－－いつも以上にたくさんトークしていたけど、それも責任感から？
　レイナ「（照れ笑いして）そうですね」

Edited to add: Upon rereading, I realise it's because Zai translated line by line. The ASDaisuki one gives the gist.

Zai does an amazing job of translating. I'd say ASDaze really lucked out on both our Korean and Japanese translators -- they're wonderfully accurate

Awesome , are there plans for ASDaze to be creating subbing teams?

Most definitely! That's been on our minds since the start of the year. Right now we're aiming at settling our current team and making sure we're all comfortable and working well together. We'll probably reopen recruitment towards the middle of the year.
