[DISCUSSION] After School's Facebook Page Empty [DISCUSSION] After School's Facebook Page

Post by arhat Thu Jan 22, 2015 6:35 am

While the Japanese page is well managed and updated, the Korean page hasn't been doing so well, in my opinion.

The provided URL for AS' website is mistyped, and the page manager hasn't seem to read my message regarding that.

While the Japanese page has covered Jooyeon's graduation, the Korean page has said nothing of it, nor about Jooyeon's move to Better ENT. While many fans may follow both pages and can see the news on one page, the fact that the Korean page has said nothing tells me something about the enthusiasm that Korean management has for After School. And this is me not knowing much about what goes on in Korea itself.

Lastly, the Korean page's current profile picture is that of AS' Japanese single 'Shh'. I am not sure about Pledis' right of using images used in Japanese promotions, but as a Korean page I think they should be using Korean pictures instead, to show that not only is After School still active in Korea, but to show support for their Korean activities (and perhaps non-Japanese foreign activities), like Beauty Bible.

And the fact that the Korean page didn't cover Nana's #1 place on TC Chandler's list for 2014, when the Japanese page has, almost tells me something about how the Koreans feel about Nana...

Not to sound like an ungrateful fan, but I can partially understand why people think Pledis isn't doing such a great job with managing After School, from what I heard and from this.

Does anyone else agree?

I didn’t know that AS had a Korean FB page and just thought they used the Japanese one but it doesn’t surprise me if they have a Korean one and it doesn’t work but maybe they use a Korean site more.

What really surprises me more is that Pledis’s own website hasn’t yet removed either Kahi or Jooyeon from its listed artists nor does it communicate any useful information at all.

And if you want more “news” that isn’t widely reported how about the fact that After School/Orange Caramel’s manager has left as well, it would seem he was poached by Jooyeon when she left and lists himself as “Artist Manager. In Exclusive Charge of Actress Lee JuYeon.”

Here is the Korean page. It's verified like the Japanese page, and it has more likes. I'm sort of surprised that you didn't know about this page.

This bothers me too. They should be more active.

Where did you get this info? This is news. And what will happen to After School/Orange Caramel, and who will take the former manager's place? I cannot help but think that this will cripple Pledis, if not further more.

I got it from his twitter page:

https://twitter.com/SBroGallery

He used to list himself as “Artist Manager – with After School & Orange Caramel DJ DURIMOS - Ranked Beatport Mix Chart 2nd of Top 100 May, 2013” as late at 31st of Dec 2014 but changed sometime afterwards.

On the 16th he tweeted…
"Some" would like to stop me, but will never give up.
Even though they are bothering me in so many ways and to be honest its not easy to endure pressure, Will continue looking forward until the ONE tell me not to.
Gotta Remember.
I did not even start this if i can't stay with this obstacle.
Predicted, ALREADY.
#NEXT #SBroGallery”

There was a link to a Instagram photo of what maybe a document holder But I really can’t tell and I really h8 cryptic tweets. Anyway he changed his Artist manager status from AF/OC to Jooyeon during that time.
I’m surprised that nobody else seems to have cottoned on to this information or it could be I just troll for information more than most.

Before I start talking I just want to say thank you for creating this discussion. I consider it well needed. I have noticed this too and I do have some things to add even fir they cover some other SNS aspects too, but I will get to that later.

arhat wrote: The provided URL for AS' website is mistyped, and the page manager hasn't seem to read my message regarding that.
This I did not know where was the link provided, was it on Pledis' site? The page manager, interesting I had no idea you could get into contact with them on Facebook. I have also experienced that it is impossible to reach them on twitter too but I might be going about it in the wrong way.

Agreed the page should be more active covering their Korean activities and what is going on with AS. Them having the Shh picture is just odd, they should stick with the First Love picture. I have noticed them making updates about Lizzy's comeback now but they should be much more involved when it comes to things. I think supporting their Korean activities is a great idea. They should have posted the youtube links to the Beauty Bible episodes when they came out on KBS and such and advertise Uee's dramas and such.

intrepid wrote:What really surprises me more is that Pledis’s own website hasn’t yet removed either Kahi or Jooyeon from its listed artists nor does it communicate any useful information at all.

I agree with you and I am also bothered by this. They really should be more active. Kahi should be removed because she is even at the top of the page, along with removal from the artist page too. Then with Jooyeon I am not sure how they are going to do since they use the last Korean album for the picture. Maybe they should just take a group shot of the current members but do nothing about her in the artist section?

arhat wrote: Not to sound like an ungrateful fan, but I can partially understand why people think Pledis isn't doing such a great job with managing After School, from what I heard and from this.

Being ungrateful is not my intention either but I really do Pledis needs to take some simple steps when it comes to online promotion. First having the Korean FB page updated along with their homepage. Orange Caramel's picture is from the Catallena era while everyone else have their most recent promotion. I think they should also add Yoonjo before she is lost too and maybe even make special places for the Raina and Lizzy solos at the bottom of the artists where Yoonjo could be placed.

This part will tie in with some other SNS platforms and also a little comparison. I don't follow everything and everyone and comparing is not always fair. I am well aware of it. Still there are some aspects that are fairly easy and Pledis needs to work on.

With other idols such as EXID and Hello Venus (I think even Stellar) I have noticed a twitter system. When they are promoting they all use the hashtags for the current song in their tweets. Considering the followers Lizzy has this would be a smart way of giving SNS points to herself. Yet she has been pretty absent from twitter ever since her song was released. This has not that much to do with Pledis as it is her individual account but they could encourage their idols to be active during their promotions and use the hastags.

In the same fashion the Hello Venus members don't actually have personal twitters. They have a common HV twitter and during their promotions there were at least one new update per day that went on both twitter and facebook. Usually it was 3 updates a day. They would encourage fans to watch them on the shows, post selcas and always use the hashtags for everything. Their Facebook page even featured an English translation.

EXID's page would also post updates about how the song charted and such with hastags. I think this is something Pledis really needs to start doing in a better way. Right now it is just "Pledis news" and they give brief news but there is not really much reason to follow them unless you are a real caring fan. This should go for the facebook page also because if they can make the followers/likers care about the promotion it would be an easier way for them to gain some support which does not take much effort.

To get back to the reason of the discussion the Japanese facebook have understood this, even on the twitter side of things. They are constantly providing updates and when Best Of was announced they even tagged #ASBest. I consider this a very smart move and Pledis should learn from them.

I will also quickly add a little about Lizzy's MV I tried to tweet to the Pledis page telling them to put English in the title. This did not give and despite many comments on the video complaining about the lack of English it is still nowhere to be found. They did not even input the search tags for the MV in English is it is practically impossible for a casual fan who happens to hear about Lizzy's solo to find the MV in Pledis. What disturbs me the most about this is that they are losing so much money straight away by doing this. It is so unnecessary especially when the teaser had English in the title and for searching. Are they purposely hiding her solo?

I think I have made my point now and I think Pledis could really benefit from having a staff member with at least a 5% level of English skills making sure the homepage, twitter page, facebook page and youtube channel are all managed in a good way.

Avex Trax has been doing this for years. Of course they'd be good and motivated.

I agree. Someone good and with English skills should be managing, and helping with promoting After School Korean activities by posting them on the Facebook and Twitter profiles.

Did you accidently leave your reply inside my quote? The link for AS's Pledis site is provided on the Korean Facebook page, albeit mistyped...

Sorry I just quoted all of it since I covered so aspects from each paragraph in my quote. I looked at the link now and I have never heard of that page before. What is it meant to be and lead you too? Because if it is After School's homepage why is it so unknown?

a-shcool.co.kr is not the right URL, yet management blatantly does nothing about it. And the website for (the correct) a-school.co.kr is now defunct. The website is supposed to be the Korean official website for After School.

I never knew they had an official websie. What is the reason for it not working and how long has it been like this? Pledis really needs to get somone working on fixing all this, it is not like it would take a lot of time, at least not keeping the SNS accounts updated.

@arhat, you really shouldn't listen to what people say...especially Kpop fans and fans from this fandom  because both this fandom and Kpop fans have demonstrated they have very little credibility. I'm not sure what people have been telling you but I'm willing to bet it's rubbish. As for this "Pledis isn't doing a great job managing After School as indicated by their lack of commitment to updating their Website/SNS account" thing, this is another statement made out of ignorance. Keep in mind that Pledis is a small company with very limit resources and they probably don't have their own web designer they can freely call to updated their sites. My company has their own web developer(i.e. me) now but because there are more important tasks to do I won't have time to update our site or the SNS accounts I'm put in charge of. It's not that my company or I am  incompetent, it's just that there are more important tasks to do and updating websites isn't to most important tasks at the moment. The problem with people is that most of them don't live in the real world, they live in state of perpetual ignorance where truth to them exists in the absence of facts and reason e.g. After School doesn't need to audition or be invited to go on shows, Pledis should be able to magically get them to go on shows to boost  their popularity. Or how about this --> I h8 Pledis, I don't like the way Pledis manages After School, I'm going to boycott Pledis, that way pledis will have even less funds to manages After School so Pledis will do an even crappier job managing After School then I can h8 Pledis even more and this ridiculous cycle will continue, Yay!!!!

...am I really the only one here that thinks this fandom is beyond ridiculous?

intrepid wrote:it would seem he was poached by Jooyeon when she left and lists himself as “Artist Manager. In Exclusive Charge of Actress Lee JuYeon.”
LOL, the way you put it makes it seem like Juyeon did a bad thing.

@SwePlaygirl, some things look like they don't take a lot of time to do until you actually have to do them and this is coming from a web developer/programmer. Also, things that don't take a lot of time to some people do take a lot of time to other people if they have more important things to do.
