[DISCUSSION] Plans for helping After School win Empty [DISCUSSION] Plans for helping After School win

Post by PlayboyzAdam Sun May 18, 2014 7:14 am

Given all the information and resources we are provided, there are still plenty of fans who aren't confident in what to do or feel they are not sure what they are doing is the most they can do to help After School win. Also the some of the conflicting information from fans and internet sources are making things worse. This is a discussion about plans to resolve these issues to help fans feel more confident about that to do to help After School win awards as well as a discussion about other plans to help out After School for their next comeback.

Currently the only ways I'm confident that my effort count towards helping After School winning is voting on Melon for Show Champion, MWAVE for M COUNTDOWN and M&TV Talk app for Inkigayo. I've got plans to do more than that but that's all I'm confident in right now.

I apologise in advance for how unstructured this post might be, I've got a lot of topics I want to talk about and I'm not sure how arrange them.

All time shown are in KST. See https://www.google.com.au/search?q=what+time+is+it+in+south+korea+right+now&oq=what+time+is+it+in+south+korea&aqs=chrome.1.69i57j0l5.9285j0j7&sourceid=chrome&es_sm=122&ie=UTF-8 for current time in KST.

Problems with come ASDaze's back tutorial, events and Playgirlz Syllabus
My first impression of the come back tutorial was, WOW...that's a lot to read and process. I don't think the information is presented as effectively as it could be even after it was simplified.

I think the information is much easier to read if the information if it is presented like this,

Pre voting(before the music show is on)
- Show Champion from Tuesday 12:00pm to Sunday 11:59am. See link for tutorial.
- M COUNTDOWN from Friday 11:00am to Monday 9:00am. See link for tutorial.
- Inkigayo from Monday 12:00am to Sunday 11:59pm. See link for tutorial.

Live voting(when the music show airs)
- M COUNTDOWN on Thursday 6:00pm to 7:30pm. See link for tutorial.
- Music Core on Saturday 3:50pm to 5:00pm(I think...I can't remember now). See link for tutorial.
- Inkigayo on Sunday 3:30pm to 4:40pm. See link for tutorial.

[DISCUSSION] Plans for helping After School win Versio10
^In case anyone is wondering this gantt chart is quickly done in paint but if ASDaze likes the idea no doubt that Renzel would do a way better job :)Also some of those times need to be check/discussed because I'm not sure I got them correct.

SNS points
SNS points count towards the overall score on certain Music shows. SNS points can be gain by:
- Watching their official MV on Youtube pledisartist channel, better still watch it from an Gaon account to add and extra points for Inkigayo. see link for more info.
- Search for them on sites like  Nate, MelOn etc see link for more info.
- trend the of their song(in Hangul) on twitter see link for more info.
- and so on

The come back tutorial instructed "Make an English Mnet M! Countdown Account...." and then instruct fans to "Make a Japan OR  Korean Mnet M! Countdown Account". What's the point in making a Japanese or Korean account while you could just make English ones?

There are issues I had with the Catallena events I want to discuss. The problems with the hash tag events is that it's hard to think of anything intelligent to say when all you've got on your mind is to spam twitter for SNS points. I wanted to spam twitter with nonsense tweets just for the sake of SNS points but I wasn't sure the rest of you guys appreciate me burring your tweets under a flood of spam(that sounds delicious). If no one here objects I'm going to spam twitter for SNS points during the hash tag events from now on. I remember spamming twitter in the past while someone(maybe it was playgirlzworld) was doing a survey and my spamming didn't seem to affect the survey and I participated in the survey while I was spamming for SNS points at the same time. Those days were pretty fun...although I'm not sure my tweets counted towards SNS points.

Instead of the having a 1 million Youtube views in 2 days project I propose having a 10 million view in 3 weeks(i.e. 21 days) project...we needed the views to keep on coming throughout After School's promotional period...ideally a "view Youtube MV as much as you can until After School's promotional period ends" project would be better although you would think anyone who is trying to get After School to win awards would be naturally doing that without an explicit project telling them to do it. I personally would like to see After School gain 10 million views (on pledisartist)  within their promotional period if fans aren't going to continue to help view the MV throughout the promotional period.

Some of the information on Playgirlz Syllabus is outdated, incorrect and there are other issues. Here's a list of problems I found:

1) Linked references from to sources where the information is obtained from would really help me feel more confident about using the Playgirlz Syllabus. References to primary sources is what I'm interested in if it is available, references to secondary sources aren't very helpful especially when they're from fans because I've been told a lot of conflicting things from fans. What I'm especially interested in is something that tells me about trending on twitter for SNS points because the most discouraging thing I've seen so far is someone saying there's nothing to prove that trending counts towards increasing positions in charts. For After School's next comeback, everyday I'm going to spam twitter until I reach the limit I can tweet for a day regardless of the presences of reliable references but it'll be good to know I'm not wasting my time doing it.

2) The Playgirlz Syllabus says "* Each email address can register 5 Melon IDs." which is confusing to me because I'm not sure how that's the case when I tried to register for another melon ID with the same email I get the following error message,

"이미 사용중인 이메일입니다. 다른 이메일을 입력해주세요."
"Email is already in use. Please enter a different email."

[DISCUSSION] Plans for helping After School win Duplic10

3) There's nothing about how to do SMS voting on M COUNTDOWN in the tutorial for voting on M COUNTDOWN.

4) Playgirlz Syllabus says, "* Make sure IDs are not in sequence. (e.g. orangecaramel01, ...)". Is this true or is it one of those unconfirmed rumours? Crap, now I've got to spend several hours changing about 100 out of my 600 MWave accounts just incase.

5) Playgirlz Syllabus says "* An ID registered in MWAVE (global) can cast another vote on Mnet Korea or Mnet Japan (1 ID = 2 votes)." It could be that I'm doing something wrong but from what I've seen the MVAVE acounts will allow you to vote in the Korean MNET as well but not the Japanese one.

6) The tutorial for how to create a Japanese M COUNTDOWN account in the Playgirlz Syllabus  says "With a Mnet Japan ID, you can ALSO vote on Mnet Korea. Below is the tutorial on how to sign up for a Mnet Japan ID and vote on Mnet Japan. So with your first vote with your Mnet Global ID (or SNS) and your two votes with your Japan ID (1 on Mnet Japan and 2 on Mnet Korea), you can vote 3 times a day for the boys." Again, it could be that I'm doing something wrong but from what I've seen you can't use the Japan ID to vote on the Korean site.

7) The voting time for Show Champion in the Playgirlz Syllabus needs verification. I use to vote like crazy on Show Champion waiting for it to begin from when it first starts in the week and vote like crazy until it ends in the week. From my memory it starts at Tue 12:00pm to Sun 11:59pm. That was a while ago so my memory could be off by about a hour. This is only important to people who plan to vote like crazy but it still should to be validated.

8 ) The tutorial for how to vote on Show Champion in the Playgirlz Syllabus is unnecessarily complicated...I'll redo the tutorial for how to vote for Show Champion because it'll save me time explaining...while I'm at it I might as well do the tutorial for how to vote on the other online accounts as well because for they don't tell you how to log out(which I find useful to know) also it'll be easier to use for the fans who are using the shared accounts and have no interest in learning how to create accounts.

9) The tutorial for how to vote on Show Champion says "*We’ve heard that you should wait a minute between each of your 3  votes to be sure they are counted, so just to be safe wait a littel bit after each vote ^^." <-- I am SO sick of these rumours, normally I'll listen to them just to be safe but considering I do have experience voting on Melon for 13+ hours a day and I've never noticed any wrong with voting continuously without waiting a minute, I'm not going to listen this one. If you are planning to vote like crazy on Melon I suggest you follow suit however it you don't plan to vote like crazy and want to play it safe do as suggested and wait a minute between the 3 votes.

Websites for sending international SMS (for SMS voting)
To help After School win we need to sms vote for them on certain shows. In the past I've used slidesms.com but that site is down now. There's http://pinger.com/tfw/ that can be used to send texts but I haven't had the time to test if it works yet. Does anyone else know any more sites that we can use to send international SMS or if http://pinger.com/tfw/ works?

Event to vote like crazy
Balal proposed an event on ASDaze's ask.fm where fans collectively go crazy voting for a set number of hours. My feelings about this event is the same as project to get 1 million views in 2 days and the hash tag events. I don't think it is necessary because if fans want to help After School win they would be naturally voting as much as they can anyway and if they are not we should be concentrating on getting them to do it and promoting the comeback tutorial more. Also I don't want events like these to give fans the idea that since they've achieved something great they don't have to work as hard for the remaining promotional period. But if this does become an official ASDaze event I recommend voting like crazy on Melon in the few hours before the voting day ends because the position of After School at that point is a good indication of how After School will end their week and we can use this information to take measures to increase our effort to help After School win. I also recommend voting like crazy for Melon within the few hours after voting first starts for the week. This is a good idea because seeing After School's rank(which I assume would be pretty high with all the fans voting) is a good morale boost for other fans who come along afterwards to help vote. If fans haven't experienced it before the first few hours of voting for the week is like an all out war(actually the entire voting thing is like war). It feels pretty good to know there are Playgirlz/Playboyz who have your back so it can be really fun.

Events for SMS voting
I propose making official ASDaze events for sms voting on M COUNTDOWN, Music Core and Inkigayo. My plan is on the days the shows are aired, ASDaze will post a notification instructing fans to vote on the show. Not all fans can watch the live streaming so we need a system(s) to quickly notified fans that it's time to vote. I suggest notifications for time to vote be made as comments on Youtube official MV, ASDaze's ask.fm, a comment in this topic or another topic for AS next comeback, twitter, and a comment in the asdaze.com post for the event. Part of the instruction should also include where fans can find notifications that it's time to vote. I suggest that we also have volunteers that announce(not sure where, maybe on the places where I've previously mentioned for notifying it's time to vote) that they will be viewing the live streaming and will let fans know when it's time to vote. Knowing that there's actually going to someone there to announce it's time to vote is a good confidence boost. I don't watch the live streaming any more because my current internet connection sucks so this is very helpful for fans like me.

Actively encourage fans to vote
We need to continuously encourage fans to help vote for After School. Instead of leaving a link on asdaze.com for fans to view the comeback tutorial consider reposting it on asdaze.com every 2 days to get fans attention. Also consider actively spreading the material to other After School fan clubs(if ASDaze isn't doing that already) instead of letting fans stumble on it at ASDaze.

Project to encourage fans to only watch Pledis artist's video on Pledis channels
Some fans were still questioning where it's more supportive to OC to view Catallena videos on Youtube(i.e. pledisartist or 1theK), in past years Shu's material that was release to show how to vote for After School( I think it was Shu's, it was at iloveafterschool.wordpress.com. Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong) explicitly states pledisartist, Jayden's Playgirlz Syllabus has follow suit, Balal has told fans on asdaze ask.fm that it's more supportive to be viewing Pledis artist's videos on pledisartist and many fans through out the years has done the same but there are still plenty of fans that's not getting it. I propose a project to tell fans to only view Pledis artist videos on pledisartist channel. I was going to propose this project and talk more about it on as a different topic but there no need for me to do that when most of what needs to be said is at here. The project is simple, just tell fans to only watch Pledis artists (in this case After School if anyone still doesn't know Pledis is After School's company) videos on Pledis artist channels. Let them know that this project isn't a result of being misinformed with supporters thinking only Pledis views count towards SNS point(both supporters and opposition for this project has been confused this). This project is about After School's success in general not just winning music show awards. Provide them with a link to this discussion and frequently (maybe every 2 to 3 days) re-post the project on asdaze.com and the other ASDaze SNS platforms.

I'll be back with more later. Also guys, not only did I intend this discussion to be about plans that could be done to help After School win. I intended this discussion to be also about plans that you are going to do to help After School win. If you have plans to do things to help After School win but am concern about it's effectiveness please discussion your concerns here. I've got concerns about my plans that I'll discussion about later.

Isn't there an app/programme that lets you queue tweets? (It may be called Tweetdeck but I'm not sure). I think it could be useful so instead of spamming say 20 tweets in a few minutes and then run out of things to say you could queue more over a few hours. You could also queue for tweets at night then.

@Jinana, The Tweetdeck program does sound like a nice idea. The idea behind spamming instead of having a proper conversation is so that you don't have to put any effort into thinking about what to say.

Examples Very Happy:
- "123 abc #애프터스쿨 FIGHTING!!!!!!!! #첫사랑 FTW!!!"
-  "BLAH, not sorry to interrupt your conversation to report that #애프터스쿨 is awesome and #첫사랑 best song ever"
- "WARNING SPAM: askjlfbvsvl more SNS Points for #애프터스쿨, love #첫사랑  and still listening to it"
- "blahhh asgfnsf #애프터스쿨 FIGHTING!!!!!, #첫사랑 csfjvsld PLAYGIRLZ/PLAYBOYZ FIGHTING!!"
- "apples, oranges #애프터스쿨 FIGHTING!!!!! #첫사랑, banana <-- hey baNANA!"
- "dsfvblds MORE SNS POINTS FOR #애프터스쿨, Playgirlz/Playboyz FIGHTING!!!!!, #첫사랑 NO.1!!!!!!!!"
- "Grass is green, sky is blue #애프터스쿨 I LOVE YOU, LOVE #첫사랑 TOO!!! PLAYGIRLZ/PLAYBOYZ FIGHTING!!!!!!!!!!!"

Don't put any thought into it and just write any nonsense you can come up with and up in the hast tags. It feels kind dumb at first but once you get into it, it is actually very fun and the continuous cheering for After School and Playgirlz/Playboyz is very encouraging. There's rumours that you can't put the hash tags at the start or the end of tweets. I'm going to listen just in case but does anyone here have any hard evidences for this? Also even amidst all that spamming it is possible to have proper conversations. Ooohh now I'm all exiting about hash tagging for After School's next comeback Very Happy

Experiment to test Playgirlz Syllabus method of view Youtube videos
I'm sure anyone who's been trying to help After School win awards knows that official MV Youtube views count towards SNS points(can be confirmed on M COUNTDOWN voting page). I'm still not sure exactly how to make all my Youtube views increase the view count on Youtube videos...not exactly true, if you clear your browser's entire cache and change your IP address each time you view the video I'm very sure all your views will count towards the view total. But the problem(for me at least) is that with my new ISP I can't seem to change my IP address anymore. It use to be as simple as unplugging my modem to reboot it and plugging it back it to get a new IP address. From tests that were done I'm very sure that placing the video in a playlist and letting it play continuously does not work(if it does it doesn't work it doesn't look like it works very well). The Playgirlz Syllabus suggestions "You must clean history after 10 plays and delete cookies every 60 minutes (ALL TIME history/cookies, not just the ones for the past hour)". Because of my experience of being told by many fan and internet source conflicting information, I'm not sure it if it is correct.  I propose an experiment to test the effectiveness of what the Playgirlz Syllabus suggests. Here's the plans for the experiment. In a Youtube channel that is only known to participants of the experiment, upload 2 videos(preferably After School MV to try and keep the experiment as controlled as possible). One video will be watched in a manner as suggested by Playgirlz Syllabus. Participants will the video the video 10 times then delete all of the entire browser's cache(including cookies i.e. EVERYTHING) and view the video 10 times again and repeat the process as much as the participants wants. OK this isn't exactly the Playgirlz Syllabus process but it is simplified and if this doesn't work then the Playgirlz Syllabus process certainly won't work. The other video is to be on viewed on a different browser that won't ever have anything in its cache clear during the duration of this experiment so you need to install 2 different types of browsers for this experiment(e.g. Chrome and IE). To participate in the experiment, participants need to record how make times they view the video, maybe as a comment on the video itself unless someone here has a better idea. Participants will also need to tell us what country they are from, this will be useful in getting an idea of how much your views actually contributed to the view count(by using Youtubes analytical tools). I'm proposing the experiment last for a week, if about a week the results are non conclusive I suggest we extent the duration of the experiment. The longer the experiment the more accurate the results. I don't have time to setup this experiment right now because I have a lot of things to do but if someone else here wants to set it up feel free to do so.

Some of my plans for AS next comeback
My plans for After School's next comeback is very straight forward. Everyday trend on twitter until I reach the daily limit, vote for M COUNTDOWN, vote for Inkigayo, spend the remaining hours of the day voting like crazy for Show Champion. I am going watch After School MV video using the Gaon accounts so it increase the ranking on the Gaon social chart(as suggested by Playgirlz Syllabus because it increases SNS points for Inkigayo, cool I didn't know that before)...but I'm a bit concerned because in the past years I've been deliberately searching for and only viewing the pledisartist video on Youtube because I believe(actually I'm pretty sure from observations and experience) that searching for it helps its rank it Youtube searches. I'm not sure how watching the MV from Gaon will affect its Youtube search rank. Although the video view from Gaon will be the one from pledisartist and the number of view does help increase the view rank in Youtube searches.

This discussion was part 2 of my plans to encourage fans to help vote more, part 3 is a little more direct. If after 2 or 3 weeks of the promotion and the fandom doesn't seem to be pulling their weight to help After School win. I'm planning I'm personally go and find as much Playgirlz/Playboyz on the internet as I can to help out. To help me out guys, what was it that got you into helping After School win music show awards and why didn't you do it before. There's probably many different reasons but knowing other fans experience is going to help me convince fans to help. The reason why I didn't help them win before was because those music shows awards don't matter to me and it certainly didn't matter to me what anyone else thought about After School....that was until an interview in 2011 that shows that those awards are important to After School. I h8 those music show awards(personally I think they're are poison to Kpop) but they are a symbol of recognition, appreciation and winning them does help After School with more opportunities. I'm a bit uncomfortable with this plan because I'm I'm pretty sure I'm one of the most hated fans in this fandom.  Anyone else what to volunteer to try and seek out fans on the internet to help vote?

Survey to find out how many fans will help After School win awards
I also propose another ASDaze survey to get an idea of how many fans are helping or going to help After School win awards. Here are some ideas for survey questions:
- which country are you from
- will you or are you planning to help After School win awards for their next comeback
- if you answer no to the previous question, is it because you don't know how
- if you answer no to the previous question, is it because you are too busy
- if you answer no to the previous question, is it because you After School isn't your bias
- if you answer no to the previous question, what is because no rewards for your hard work
Make this an international survey, I'm especially interest in co-operation from the Korean fan.

Uniting this fandom
@ASDaze, I would like to see you guys and/or other members of this fan club contact all the other After School fan clubs especially the international fan clubs e.g. Korean, Chinese, Mexican etc and try to get them involved in our projects and us involved in their projects as much as possible. I know we've been involved in Playgirlzworld, After School Philippines and After School Peru activities which is good to see. I hope we can be involved in more in the future. Uniting this fandom will help After School a lot in winning awards.

[DISCUSSION] Plans for helping After School win Empty Re: [DISCUSSION] Plans for helping After School win

Post by PlayboyzAdam Wed May 21, 2014 6:43 pm

Someone commented on ASDaze's ask.fm,
I also think it'd be a good idea if we decide a set hour or something to vote like crazy. We can even make a tinychat or something to talk on so we can all encourage each other while getting to know one another Smile

Please see paragraph in first post about Balal's proposal for event to vote like crazy. (I'll try to make my posts more readable later).

Regardless of whether this becomes an official ASDaze event or not there are going to be fans that will vote like crazy for this comeback. If this does become an official ASDaze event it should be noted that the votes from one week does not get added onto the next week. So these events should happen weekly but preferably daily. Not just once or twice within the entire promotion. I would normally use the Youtube comments as a means to encourage fans to help vote and report on voting progress but Youtube has change and it's spam filter is blocking a lot of my comments so I don't suggest using Youtube comments to chat for these events. Someone is bound to create another topic for After School's next comeback (like what was done for Catallena) and I was planning to use that topic to chat,  encourage fans to help vote and report of voting progress. We could use the forum Chatbox but I prefer to do it somewhere non member can also see our comments too. Anther option is to create a separate topic just for chatting about voting, perhaps something like "[DISCUSSION] Official vote like crazy chat thread" here. The latter idea might be the best as it seems more sensible then spamming the After School comeback topic but I'm afraid only people who are going to help vote will pay attention to it. The idea of chatting on Youtube comments or the After School comeback topic was to encourage people who are not helping to vote, to help us vote.

I've been able to confirm that the end of a voting week for Melon is on Sunday 11:59pm. According to my memory the end of each voting day for Melon is 11:59pm (I'll test that tonight) and I think I've remember the start of the voting week wrong in the previous posts. I had thought that it was Tuesday 12:00pm, but now I think that it is Tuesday 11:00am. I'll have to wait until next week to test it but until then if someone can confirm what time voting for Melon starts that would save me the trouble.

I Googled for an American zip code when it asked for one. See if this one works 91345, it is the zip code for Los Angeles (Mission Hills).

[DISCUSSION] Plans for helping After School win Empty Re: [DISCUSSION] Plans for helping After School win

Post by PlayboyzAdam Tue May 27, 2014 3:29 am

I've tested http://pinger.com/tfw/ and there's something wrong with it so it can't send international SMS'.

I've also been testing http://www.dailysms.us/index.php?on=sms it works very well(all my sms get sent) but there's only 3 possible numbers to send from and I'm not sure if the music shows allow multiple votes from the same number.

I tested http://www.24sms.net/ and it doesn't work very well because a lot of the messages I send, does not arrive but it provides you with a random number for every message you send after you've verified the number you're sending from(but I think there's something wrong with its gateway so when it tries to send you a validation code to verified the number you are sending from you may not receive the validation code).

I've tested http://internationalfreesms.com/ and haven't been able to get it to work yet.

I've tested http://pumpsms.com/freesms.php and haven't been able to get that to work as well.

I've tested www.ipipi.com/ but you only get 5 SMS credits to begin with. I've sent "애프터스쿨" (and received it) and used up 2 credits. When you run out of SMS credits you have to buy more to send sms. The number the message was sent from was +447781481795. If you've got an ipipi account do your messages get sent from this number as well? I should stop registering with sites that require my phone number because that is a serious security issue and this site does require you to provide your phone number. Well later if I find out that I've register with some services I've never heard of and I need to pay to quit the service I know I've either been scammed by this site or 24sms.

Does anyone here know if it'll be easier and more reliable if we learnt how to type hangul so we can vote on our phones instead of using a website to do these sms votes?

Hey Adam! Whoa so awesome! I'm sorry I'm only able to get to this now^^

This is in response to your first post:

Thank you Adam! I love this. I think it’s very important to have the community be able to share knowledge with each other and brainstorm.

I think the information is much easier to read if the information if it is presented like this[See first post]

We did include simpler instructions in our Catallena tutorial on the site. BUT This seems like a simple thing to include to our new Syllabus [the graph]! And visual! Which I know will help a ton of people out #GoAdam!

Does anyone else know any more sites that we can use to send international SMS or if http://pinger.com/tfw/ works?

I just went to http://slidesms.in/?on=sms (the one from our tutorial) and it looks like it is working? But I didn’t test it (only went to the page)~~ It looks like you tested a lot of other sites as well so maybe this is irrelevant.

PlayboyzAdam wrote:Events for SMS voting
I propose making official ASDaze events for sms voting on M COUNTDOWN, Music Core and Inkigayo. My plan is on the days the shows are aired, ASDaze will post a notification instructing fans to vote on the show. Not all fans can watch the live streaming so we need a system(s) to quickly notified fans that it's time to vote.

When I was brainstorming, I was thinking we could send out automated emails and/or text messages if people want to sign up^^

I also love the idea of a “signal boosting team” to spread the news on Twitter, Youtube, Facebook…etc.!

PlayboyzAdam wrote:Actively encourage fans to vote
We need to continuously encourage fans to help vote for After School. …consider reposting it on asdaze.com every 2 days to get fans attention. Also consider actively spreading the material to other After School fan clubs(if ASDaze isn't doing that already) instead of letting fans stumble on it at ASDaze.

Actually, other fansites were really awesome and not only posted our tutorials but translated them :’) We notified as many as possible. We have in the works a better way to spread these tutorials and events as well.

PlayboyzAdam wrote:Project to encourage fans to only watch Pledis artist's video on Pledis channels

This can be easily incorporated in our syllabus and events! Yay!

PlayboyzAdam wrote:The come back tutorial instructed "Make an English Mnet M! Countdown Account...." and then instruct fans to "Make a Japan OR  Korean Mnet M! Countdown Account". What's the point in making a Japanese or Korean account while you could just make English ones?

This is a good point! One I thought about too~ It’s just another option. I wasn’t sure which information I should omit at the time.

PlayboyzAdam wrote:Instead of the having a 1 million Youtube views in 2 days project I propose having a 10 million view in 3 weeks(i.e. 21 days) project...we needed the views to keep on coming throughout After School's promotional period...ideally a "view Youtube MV as much as you can until After School's promotional period ends"

This is a good point. I think having both projects might be a possibility? I think having both a long term AND short term goal is important Very Happy

PlayboyzAdam wrote:Some of the information on Playgirlz Syllabus is outdated, incorrect and there are other issues. Here's a list of problems I found [See post]

Thank you so much for this list. This will be so helpful moving forward. All of our information is from BAPYESSIR. However, some of the information might have changed with time (outdated now).

We went ahead and asked them for the information as they have not only had SUCCESS (due to large participation), but also are recognized by TS Entertainment (B.A.P’s and Secret’s Company)

PlayboyzAdam wrote:8 ) The tutorial for how to vote on Show Champion in the Playgirlz Syllabus is unnecessarily complicated...I'll redo the tutorial for how to vote for Show Champion because it'll save me time explaining...while I'm at it I might as well do the tutorial for how to vote on the other online accounts as well because for they don't tell you how to log out(which I find useful to know) also it'll be easier to use for the fans who are using the shared accounts and have no interest in learning how to create accounts.

I/we/ASDaze was also planning on redoing all the tutorials so that ASDaze could own them^^ Would you be interested in helping with this? If so, please shoot us an email. We’d like to keep as much of information similar to BAPYESSIR’s, except of course of the mistakes you find Very Happy (and improvements you see could be made)

PlayboyzAdam wrote:1) Linked references from to sources where the information is obtained from would really help me feel more confident about using the Playgirlz Syllabus.

Warning: This is a little lenghty.

1) I can’t give you primary sources other than BAPYESSIR at this point. But I’ll be sure to email Isa and ask her where she got her information~

2) But it is my understanding:

that TRENDING on Twitter does not directly give points, but the use of Hashtags does. Trending is the end result, but any conversation with After School related Hashtags is what brings the points. (It shows they’re popular/talked about). This goes for Twitter “Mentions” (of After School members) and also comments and likes on Facebook posts.

[That said though, it would make sense that Trending i.e being one of the most popular things on Twitter, would bring MORE points then?~? I'll definately look into this more]

Trending on Twitter is also a big “feat” which can cause MORE Buzz…etc. (Like maybe an extra article on Naver or Allkpop...etc. which is always helpful!)

3) However here’s a draft about what I learned about Twitter. We decided not to include this information, as to not overwhelm people. We designed the Catallena Hashtag Events in order to follow and encourage this:

How to Trend:

  • Choose a non-peak time like early morning when people aren’t tweeting along to TV programmes
  • Use a new hashtag so that its rise is more pronounced.

    • Try not to use Hashtag prior to Trending Time!!

  • Hit as wide an audience as possible in a limited time – the sharper the peak, the more chance you have of trending.
  • Suggested Numbers:

    • From 6am to 12pm PDT, 1700 tweet  to reach the Top 10.
    • And 600-900 unique users to reach the Top 10.

But we don’t just want to reach, we want to dominate. “What’s Trending” is refreshed every 5-10minutes. We want to keep a consistent stream going for AT LEAST that amount of time.
Imagine what we could do in an hour!

Not every Tweet counts, though!

The following behaviors and others like them could cause your account to be filtered from search [hashtag] or even suspended:

  • Repeatedly Tweeting the same topic/hashtag without adding value to the conversation in an attempt to get the topic trending or trending higher

Guidelines:

  • Stay on Topic [Easy! Just Spaz about Orange Caramel Very Happy]

  • Avoid repeating content that is too similar~ [Don’t Worry, That’s why we’ve made the chat! Easy!]
  • Make sure your tweet can stand on its own. (Example: No one word answers)

My references:
·        http://www.cision.com/uk/blog/how-many-tweets-make-a-trend/
·        https://support.twitter.com/articles/101125-faqs-about-trends-on-twitter
·        https://support.twitter.com/articles/42646-twitter-search-best-practices
·        There’s one other I’m unable to find atm

HOWEVER, even with this information we were unable to trend Catallena.  We were, however, able to trend #itsJupalDay without following this information.

To figure out why, I tried and was unsuccessful at trying to receive our “Hashtag Records” from hashtracking.com (for all of our events). This would have (supposedly) shown us the number of people and the number of tweets the contributed to a particular Hashtag. However, there were too many tweets to process, without spending more money (even for just one event) ><

[tbh the whole thing felt a little sketchy, so I’m glad I didn’t over spend on it]

So with this (and only this) experience in mind, it’s my opinion that the number of PEOPLE tweeting is more or equally important to making a hashtag trend rather than the amount  of TWEETS.

Also, here is the Points Breakdown for Each Music Show (according to BAPYESSIR), so you can see how everything is calculated.
*Note Voting is considered separate from SNS

MBC Show Champion
Ranking system:
45% Digital sales (Mostly MelOn)
10% Physical sales (Hanteo)
15% Ranking from netizens [vote?]
15% Ranking from professionals in music industry
15% Points on MBC music broadcast

Mnet M!Countdown
Ranking system:
50% Digital sales (Mnet, MelOn, Bugs!, Soribada)
20% Age preference
10% Physical sales (Hanteo)
10% Live show preference on Mnet
5% Global fan votes
5% SMS voting (Only for top 2)

KBS Music Bank
No voting
Ranking system:
65% Digital sales (Mostly MelOn, but also Bugs!, Mnet, Olleh and Soribada)
20% Broadcast time (times B.A.P's songs have been used during broadcast, including as BG music on other KBS programs, etc.)
10% Viewer’s choice
5% Physical sales (Hanteo)

MBC Music Core
Ranking system:
70% Physical and Digital sales
10% Youtube views
10% Board of viewers' vote
10% SMS vote

SBS Inkigayo
Ranking system:
60% Digital sales (MelOn, Bugs, and Soribada)
35% SNS (Only for top 3 until the day of broadcasting)
5% Voting
10% Real time voting (SNS or MV TV talk app, only for top 3)

Due to this, BAPYESSIR (and ASDAZE) decided that 1)Sales were most important, then 2)SNS (Twitter, Facebook, Search Engines, Youtube..etc.), then 3)Voting.

PlayboyzAdam wrote:3) There's nothing about how to do SMS voting on M COUNTDOWN in the tutorial for voting on M COUNTDOWN.

I’m not aware of how to vote on M!Countdown via Text Messages. If you have the time, please let us know!

I hope this makes sense! I can tell you put a lot of thought into this~~ Very Happy

@Sarah thanks for replying. So far only you and Jinana seem interested which is sad because I'm sure fans have lots of great ideas but just aren't sharing it or they have concerns or questions but are too shy to comment.

For some reason I missed/forgot to test that link from the tutorial. I've just tested it and it works very well. My only concern is and I'm not sure if the music shows allow multiple votes from the same number. The number my texts are send from when I use http://slidesms.in/?on=sms is +00923556705597 and I think this is going to be the same number everyone fan's sms will be sent from it they use that site. It's interesting that this number also happens to be the same number as one of the numbers that can be chosen from one of the sites I've previously reviewed i.e. http://www.dailysms.us/index.php?on=sms Apart from the fact that http://www.dailysms.us/index.php?on=sms has a choice of 3 number that can be chosen from and http://slidesms.in/?on=sms doesn't allow you to choose a number, the sites are the same. It'll be nice is someone can confirm(preferably from music program) whether fans can use sites like dailysms.us and slidesms.in to vote or does the fact that the texts coming from the same number cause problems.

The subscription for automated email and/or text messages is a very good idea because it's helpful for fans like me(although I'm not sure a lot of fans like to sign up for things). I also love the idea of a “signal boosting team” to spread the news on Twitter, Youtube, Facebook…etc.! When spreading news on Youtube there's a very good chance that Youtube's spam filter will flag it as spam and prevent it from being seen if the comments look similar to comments that's previously posted. I personally would like to see ASDaze make official posts on asdaze.com for sms voting each day the music show is on to create awareness and hype but I understand if ASdaze is against the idea of posting duplicates posts like that on asdaze.com.

For the sake of simplicity I recommend only creating English accounts. If you don't want to create lots of email accounts to create lots of accounts to vote on MCOUNTDOWN and you don't mind the trouble of learning how to create Japanese accounts, perhaps it better to create an English one and a Japanese on as the English on can be used in the Korean site.

- [INFO]Voting for M COUNTDOWN on MWAVE
- [INFO]Voting for MV on Gaon

Note: I intended these tutorial to accompany the use of the shared accounts to make voting for fans easier that's why the how to create the accounts parts of those accounts isn't included.

I think when I saw someone say there's nothing to prove that trending counts towards increasing positions in charts, I think they mean trending tweets with hash tags. I think here trending is just used as a verb for mass tweet and since this is in the context of Kpop it's implied that the tweets use hashtags. Basically what I think they mean is that there nothing to prove that tweeting with hashtags increases positions in charts. Apart from the words of fans(which I don't consider proof) so far this is true. I know that music program(well MCOUNTDOWN at least) explicitly states SNS points as a factor to music show rankings but I haven't seen anything that says that hashtagged tweets contributed towards SNS points yet.

LOL I should stop promoting mass spamming twitter for SNS points. I'm well aware of the twitter rules. Still even with my mass spamming, I haven't got my posts filtered from the twitter search and my account suspended yet(not that I know of anyway). Although if enough people reported me for spamming I guess that could get my account suspended although some fans actually retweeted and favourited my spams. Honestly guys I don't know what I'm doing, plus that was a while ago and twitter's spam protect might have improved since then(I know Youtube's has). I'm still going to mass spam twitter for After School's next comeback, if you'll going to do that be prepared to get your account suspended.

I love how you provided the references. I don't have time to check them out now but I'll do that later. I do have some plans to get the statistics from #itsJupalDay but I'm not sure if it is practical yet. I'll give it a try when I've got time.

Sorry all I know is what Google has to offer. When after School is nominated for winning(i.e. the are in top 3), text "애프터스쿨" to +822566(note the +82 is the country code, if you are texting using a website and you've selected the country(i.e. Korea) then you only need to enter 2566). I'll feel more confident about this information if can be confirm with something officially from M COUNTDOWN although at this point I'll settle for something from the Korean After School fans.
